APSEZ handles record 50 MMT cargo in August 2026
APSEZ's August cargo volume rose 19% year-on-year, while year-to-date volumes reached 234.4 MMT, led by dry cargo and container growth.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) handled a record 50 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo in August 2026, its highest monthly cargo volume to date and a 19% year-on-year increase.
The record volume was supported by growth across APSEZ’s natititle onwide and international port network. Container volumes grew 15% year-on-year in August, while dry cargo increased 25%.
APSEZ said its container growth was supported by its transshipment platform, led by Vizhinjam and Colombo. The company also continued to strengthen its presence in liquid cargo and expand dry cargo volumes, including coastal cargo.
The August performance takes APSEZ’s year-to-date cargo volume to 234.4 MMT, up 16% year-on-year. Dry cargo grew 17% and containers increased 15% during the period.
APSEZ said the performance supports its ambition to handle 1 billion metric tonnes of annual cargo volume by FY31.
In August 2026, APSEZ’s logistics rail volume stood at 54,131 TEUs, a 6% sequential increase. Year-to-date logistics rail volume stood at 250,461 TEUs, down 33% year-on-year.
