Government extends RELIEF scheme for exporters until March 2027
The government extends RELIEF Component II until 31 March 2027, continuing 95% risk coverage support for eligible export shipments.
The Department of Commerce has extended Component II of the RELIEF (Resilience & Logistics Intervention for Export Facilitation) initiative until 31 March 2027, providing continued support to Indian exporters facing geopolitical disruptions and maritime logistics challenges in West Asia.
The extension was notified through Notification No. 37/2026-27 dated 30 September 2026 under the government’s Export Promotion Mission (EPM), in response to continuing disruptions across the Gulf and adjoining regions.
Component II aims to encourage exporters to obtain coverage from the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India (ECGC) for upcoming shipments to specified regions by offering 95% risk coverage. The benefit applies to standalone and whole-turnover policies obtained on or after 16 March 2026.
Under the initiative, the premium payable by eligible exporters is protected against increases beyond pre-disruption levels during the eligible period. Coverage includes full container load (FCL), less than container load (LCL) and refrigerated (reefer) container shipments, excluding energy shipments.
Exporters seeking benefits under RELIEF must submit claims and supporting documents through the ECGC customer portal. Guidance on exporter registration, account creation and claim submission is available through tutorials on ECGC’s official YouTube channel.
Launched on 19 March 2026, RELIEF is designed to support Indian exporters facing extraordinary freight cost increases, higher insurance premiums and war-related export risks arising from disruptions in the Gulf and the wider West Asian maritime corridor.
The extension aims to help sustain export activity, strengthen trade resilience and provide continued support to exporters amid ongoing geopolitical and maritime logistics uncertainty.
