Myanmar finalises treaty that allows Indian ships to reach Mizoram via Sittwe Port

October 5, 2020: India today finalised the coastal shipping agreement with Myanmar that allows Indian ships to reach the Indian state of Mizoram through Myanmar’s Sittwe Port and the Kaladan river multi-modal link.

“Indian Army chief general M.M. Naravane and foreign secretary Harsh Shringla on Monday finalised India's coastal shipping agreement with Myanmar in a meeting with its state counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi,” reported Timesnownews.

It is important to note that the project was pending for 20 years now.
