Celcius Logistics, a tech-enabled 3PL cold supply chain solutions provider, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Switch Mobility, the electric vehicle arm of Ashok Leyland, for the large-scale deployment of 350 electric reefer (eLCV) vehicles.

This initiative represents India's first major deployment of eLCV-based refrigerated trucks, involving an initial investment of ₹100 crore (₹1 billion) dedicated to purchasing the vehicles and establishing setups like charging stations, dedicated parking, and comprehensive driver training.

According to the press release, the 2.39 tonne electric reefer trucks, developed by Switch Mobility, are designed to handle temperature-sensitive goods, including dairy, pharmaceuticals, fresh produce, seafood, and frozen foods.

Each unit is capable of maintaining temperatures ranging from –25°C to +25°C, ensuring a wide spectrum of cold-chain requirements can be met.

Celcius has already procured and deployed 100 trucks and plans to roll out the remaining 250 trucks by the end of FY26.

Swarup Bose, Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Celcius Logistics, said, “We are shifting cold-chain operations from diesel-based systems to electric and digital platforms. This is India’s largest EV reefer fleet deployment, and our engagement with Switch Mobility will help advance cold-chain electrification in the country.”

The new Celcius Green division will commence operations immediately in New Delhi, followed by expansions into Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.

The Celcius Green fleet integrates features like temperature control, GPS-based live tracking, and smart humidity and temperature sensors that provide instant alerts.

The company targets ₹50 crore (₹500 million) in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) in the first year, with plans to grow this to ₹250 crore (₹2.5 billion) ARR within five years as operations expand.

Further, Celcius is set to invest an additional ₹100–₹150 crore in the near term. This capital will be used to expand its electric reefer fleet and develop crucial EV-ready cold-storage hubs and charging infrastructure along key logistics corridors.
