APM Pipavav suspends operations till May end due to Cyclone Tauktae

May 20, 2021: APM Terminals Pipavav informed that Cyclone Tauktae has impacted operations at the port and suspended the operations till the end of May.

“Prima Facie the infrastructure of the port seems intact and we are glad to report that there has not been any loss of life at the port. The non-availability of power due to the disruption caused by the cyclone has rendered the port non-operational. Formal notification of Force Majeure shall follow shortly,” reads the release.

The transmission lines for the supply of grid power are likely to get restored by end of May 2021. Accordingly, the operations are likely to resume from June 1, 2021.

“At this stage, we estimate the port will commence operations no sooner than June 1, 2021. Therefore, until otherwise advised all EX-IM, domestic and coastal marine, rail and road operations shall be suspended. Till then we request you to kindly make alternative arrangement for your vessels and cargoes,” added the release.

Meanwhile, the company shall keep you updated about the progress of restoration work to enable you plan for the vessel calls to APM Terminals Pipavav.

Meanwhile, Adani Ports & SEZ (APSEZ) issued a statement saying that they have initiated all actions in line with our disaster management plan and SOPs thereof at Dighi, Hazira, Dahej, Mundra, and Tuna terminal.

“All sites are working in close coordination with local administration and extending support to handle the emerging situation. Quick Response Teams (QRT) are deployed at strategic locations to handle any emerging situation,” it reads.  

“The SOPs are all-encompassing covering people safety, vessel safety, equipment safety, backup yard safety, vehicle & Railway safety as well as storm water drainage, etc.We have simultaneously stocked medicines, dry rations & kept communication lines clear and preparedness for power disruptions,” it added.
