Susanta Kumar Purohit takes additional charge at Paradip Port

Susanta Kumar Purohit, chairperson of V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, has assumed additional charge as chairman of Paradip Port Authority, following an order issued by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

Purohit, an officer of the 1996 batch of the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers, brings extensive experience across administration, engineering, infrastructure development, policy formulation and public-sector management. Before this assignment, he served as Joint Secretary in the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, where he worked on policy formulation and sectoral development. His earlier career has spanned key positions within Indian Railways, the Ministry of Power and the Government of Odisha, giving him broad exposure to infrastructure development, technology-driven initiatives and public administration.

Purohit will continue as chairperson of V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority alongside his new responsibilities at Paradip, with the ministry saying his background in port management, infrastructure development, public policy and sustainable development positions him to provide strategic leadership at both ports.

Under his additional charge, the focus at Paradip Port Authority will be on strengthening the port's infrastructure and connectivity, improving operational efficiency, modernising cargo-handling facilities, and advancing green and sustainable port initiatives.

Paradip Port Authority said it looked forward to drawing on Purohit's experience and leadership to further strengthen the port's capabilities and contribute to the growth of India's maritime sector, in line with the government's Viksit Bharat vision.
