Blue Energy Motors (BEM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) under the Government of India’s PARIVARTAN Scheme to support the replacement of ageing commercial vehicles with cleaner alternatives across the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR).

The scheme aims to reduce transport-related pollution and improve air quality by encouraging the replacement of older, high-emission trucks and buses. Through its participation, Blue Energy Motors plans to support the wider adoption of electric heavy-duty trucks for freight and logistics operations.

Anirudh Bhuwalka, Founder and Managing Director of Blue Energy Motors, said the initiative would support the government’s vision for sustainable transportation and accelerate the adoption of electric heavy-duty trucks. He added that policy support, advanced technology and a strong domestic manufacturing ecosystem would be important in advancing zero-emission freight transportation.

Blue Energy Motors manufactures electric and liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered heavy-duty trucks. The company said more than 1,400 of its green heavy-duty trucks are operating on key freight routes across India and have collectively covered over 150 million kilometres.

According to the company, these operations have helped avoid more than 44,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, equivalent to the carbon absorption of approximately 1.8 million trees.

The company said it would continue to support the transition towards cleaner freight mobility through its electric heavy-duty truck technology and participation in initiatives promoting sustainable commercial transportation.
