FIEO signs MoUs with Ceylon, Kabul at Logix India 2019

February 4, 2019: During the maiden edition of Logix India 2019, organised by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) at New Delhi from Jan 31 to Feb 2, two memorandum of understandings (MoU) were signed with Kabul Chamber of Commerce and Industries, and Ceylon National Chamber of Industries.

February 4, 2019: During the maiden edition of Logix India 2019, organised by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) at New Delhi from Jan 31 to Feb 2, two memorandum of understandings (MoU) were signed with Kabul Chamber of Commerce and Industries, and Ceylon National Chamber of Industries.  The event was attended by 130 logistics companies from 27 countries to explore business prospects to make the Indian logistics sector global.

The event was inaugurated by Suresh Prabhu, minister of commerce & industries & civil aviation, the government of India. He addressed that national logistics policy has been drafted aiming to promote seamless movement of goods across the country and reducing high transactions cost of traders.  

Ajay Sahai, director general & CEO, FIEO, in his opening remarks stated, “Doing business with CIS countries has been challenging for Indian exporters. Today, we have got delegates from Belarus, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan for reaching major breakthroughs.”

Ganesh Kumar Gupta said that with the implementation of GST the Indian logistics sector which is worth around $160 billion is expected to touch $215 billion by 2020, as per the Economic Survey 2017-18.

N Sivasailam, special secretary (logistics), department of commerce, govt. of India concluded with the event with the announcement of Logix India 2020.

 Exploring the business potential with India, Ethiopia, UAE, Oman, Panama, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Bangladesh and Iran have presented the investment opportunities in their respective countries.

The three-day event, which saw an unprecedented turnout was supported by Rogers India, Kerry Indev Logistics, Cogoport, the government of Tamil Nadu and government of Telangana.
