August 31, 2018: DHL Express has inaugurated its first service center in Jalandhar. This marks the second facility established by DHL Express in Punjab.

Commenting on the inauguration of the facility, RS Subramanian, country manager, DHL Express India said, “As Punjab continues to evolve as a prominent trade hub for numerous industries, we believe that industrial growth and economic activity is set to bolster within the state. The addition of this new facility in Jalandhar will provide considerable service quality enhancements for customers who rely on us for International Time Definite express services to reach global markets.”

With a direct connection to DHL Express’ Delhi Gateway, the new 5000 square feet facility enables shipments from Jalandhar to be processed more quickly, saving customers a day in overall transit time. Currently catering to the Jalandhar market, the facility is also equipped to expand its scope to serve customers from Hoshiarpur and Phagwara.

The Service Center aims to enable and facilitate trade in Jalandhar, which is one of the biggest exporters of sports goods, mostly to Europe and Australia, and hand tools to Europe and the Americas. In addition, the facility will also support the needs for express services from automobile and leather manufacturers, and nationalised and private banks that are operational in the region. With the state’s new industrial policy being touted as a magnet for industrialists from across the globe, there is significant opportunity for international trade from this region.

The sustained expansion in Punjab is part of DHL Express’ €45 million investment committed towards the company’s infrastructure development in key industrial clusters across the country.
