Jupiter Wagons bags ₹976.6 million order from GATX India
Jupiter Wagons will manufacture and supply BFNS22.9 rakes under a Wagon Purchase Agreement with GATX India.
Jupiter Wagons has secured a ₹976.6 million order, including applicable tax, from GATX India for the manufacture and supply of BFNS22.9 rakes. The company said the order will strengthen its presence in India's private wagon leasing ecosystem. GATX India is a subsidiary of GATX Corporation, a US-based company focused on leasing railcars and other transportation assets.
Jupiter Wagons has signed a Wagon Purchase Agreement with GATX India. The order adds to the company's presence among global wagon leasing players and aligns with the Indian Railways' Wagon Leasing Scheme, under which private players such as GATX can lease and operate rolling stock on the Indian Railways network.
Vivek Lohia, Managing Director, Jupiter Wagons, said the agreement strengthens the company's position in India's private wagon leasing sector. He added that demand for specialised wagons such as the BFNS22.9 is growing as leasing companies expand their presence on the Indian Railways network.
The company said the order reinforces its role as a manufacturing partner for global wagon leasing companies operating in India. It also said the order reflects its ability to deliver specialised, high-payload rolling stock at scale.
Jupiter Wagons provides mobility solutions across freight wagons, commercial vehicles, ISO marine containers and components including couplers, bogies, brake systems, wheels, axles and wheelsets.
