VOC Port joins hands with Antwerp for digital port growth
The agreement will support knowledge exchange, digital transformation, green port initiatives, skill development and future-ready port operations.
V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Port of Antwerp-Bruges International NV and APEC Antwerp-Flanders Port Training Center VZW to strengthen international cooperation in sustainable and digital port development.
The MoU provides a framework for the organisations to explore knowledge exchange, capacity building, digital transformation, green port initiatives, skill development and innovative solutions for future port operations.
The agreement was signed by Rajesh Soundararajan, Deputy Chairperson of V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, on behalf of VOCPA. Kristof Waterschoot signed the MoU on behalf of Port of Antwerp-Bruges International NV and APEC Antwerp-Flanders Port Training Center VZW, in the presence of senior officials of the port.
During his visit to VOCPA, Waterschoot highlighted the port’s progress towards becoming a leader in India’s green maritime transition. He noted the port’s efforts to develop sustainable maritime infrastructure, including the upcoming Green Methanol Bunkering Facility, and its work to preserve India’s maritime heritage through the VOC Port Heritage Museum.
Waterschoot said the port reflects a combination of heritage, innovation and international collaboration as it continues to strengthen global partnerships.
As VOC Port advances its sustainability initiatives and expands international cooperation, it aims to position itself as a gateway to India’s green shipping future.
VOCPA said the collaboration reinforces its commitment to adopting global best practices and building a future-ready, sustainable port ecosystem.
“It’s a port built on a very long history, but it’s also a part of India’s future,” Waterschoot said.
