SCI appoints Chandran Daniel as Director, Bulk Carriers & Tankers
He replaces Rear Admiral Jaswinder Singh’s additional charge and will serve until July 2027, bringing over three decades of maritime and management experience at SCI.
The Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) has appointed Shri Chandran Durai Daniel as Director (Bulk Carriers & Tankers) with effect from 5 May 2026, following approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
Daniel, who was serving as General Manager at SCI, assumed charge of the post on 5 May 2026. His appointment will continue until his superannuation on 31 July 2027 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Following his appointment, Rear Admiral Jaswinder Singh, Director (L&PS), has ceased to hold the additional charge of Director (Bulk Carriers & Tankers) with effect from the same date and time.
SCI stated that Daniel is not related to any Director of the company and is not debarred from holding the office of director by any order of SEBI or any other authority.
Daniel is a mechanical engineering graduate from NIT Trichy and joined SCI in 1989 as a Trainee Nautical Officer after a brief stint in the automobile industry. Over a maritime career spanning around 36 years, he has served on various types of vessels and held multiple positions at sea and ashore.
In 2004, he moved to shore-based roles within SCI and has since handled several senior management positions across different functional areas. He has also worked across all branch offices of SCI, including its overseas office in the UK.
In addition to his corporate role, Daniel serves as a member of the Governing Council of the Narottam Morarjee Institute of Shipping, which provides training and advanced diploma courses in shipping and logistics.
