JNPA awards ₹929.5 million digital twin project to Softtech

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has awarded a work order worth ₹929.5 million to Softtech Engineers Limited for implementing a Digital Twin platform at the port.

The platform is aimed at optimising port operations and facilitating trade by creating a real-time digital replica of port assets, infrastructure and operational activities.

JNPA Chairperson Gaurav Dayal said the core functionalities of the Digital Twin platform are targeted to be implemented by February 2027, with the platform expected to be fully operational by February 2028.

The platform will use real-time data and predictive intelligence to support port operations, including vessel traffic management, cargo and logistics flows, vehicular decongestion and predictive maintenance of critical infrastructure.

JNPA Deputy Chairperson Ravish Kumar Singh said the Digital Twin will bring real-time data and predictive intelligence into a single operational environment to transform how port operations are monitored, planned and optimised.

The initiative will also support predictive maintenance of infrastructure to minimise downtime, optimise asset performance and extend the lifecycle of critical infrastructure. It will include surveillance, monitoring and incident management capabilities to enhance safety and security.

The platform will monitor green cover, air quality and water quality to support sustainability objectives and environmental stewardship. It will also provide data-driven insights, predictive analytics and integrated operational dashboards for decision-making and strategic planning.

The Digital Twin will further support regulatory compliance and reporting through automated monitoring and reporting and adherence to statutory requirements.

According to JNPA, the initiative is expected to improve operational efficiency, asset utilisation, environmental sustainability, safety and service delivery while supporting trade and logistics operations.
