Shipway, Unicommerce’s logistics technology platform, announced the launch of Shipway Cargo, a new software as a service (SaaS) logistics solution specifically engineered for quick commerce, high-frequency B2B shipments, and the movement of heavy and bulky B2B goods. This launch signifies Shipway's strategic move to broaden its scope beyond traditional parcel logistics and enter the rapidly expanding B2B segment.

Shipway Cargo is designed to handle a wide variety of B2B logistics requirements, ranging from warehouse-to-warehouse transfers to complex, bulky last-mile deliveries. The solution promises enhanced control, operational efficiency, and transparency for users.

The platform offers a suite of specialised features for B2B logistics, starting with a dedicated management dashboard that allows sellers to handle B2B shipments separately from their standard parcel operations. It incorporates specialised workflows, such as slot-based delivery scheduling, and connects sellers with courier partners who possess specific B2B capabilities.

This system is designed to address targeted use cases like dark-store replenishments, distributor supplies, inventory transfers, and the delivery of heavier items, scenarios that are typically inefficient and expensive when managed using conventional slab-based parcel shipping models.

Kapil Makhija, Managing Director and CEO of Unicommerce said, “As retailers expand across formats, from general and modern trade to quick commerce and omnichannel, efficient inventory movement behind the scenes becomes critical. Quick-commerce, and other high-frequency B2B logistics require distinct workflows, partners, and service expectations beyond parcel shipping. Shipway Cargo has been built specifically to meet these needs."

The press release further added that the demand for structured, high-frequency, and technology-enabled B2B distribution is increasing as manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers seek to maintain agile supply chains.

This is particularly crucial for inventory-intensive models, such as quick commerce, which rely on dependable and rapid inventory replenishment, a key capability that Shipway Cargo aims to provide.
