Transport ministers from BRICS member countries have unanimously adopted a Ministerial Declaration aimed at strengthening cooperation across transport, logistics and sustainable mobility during the 3rd BRICS Transport Ministers' Meeting held in Nagpur under India's BRICS Chairship 2026.

The declaration establishes a collaborative framework covering key areas including logistics and supply chain cooperation, transport decarbonisation, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), circularity in transport infrastructure, urban mobility and the creation of a BRICS Railway Research Network.

The ministerial meeting, held on July 11, followed the 3rd BRICS Transport Working Group Senior Officials' Meeting on July 9–10, where delegates finalised the agenda and draft declaration before its adoption by transport ministers.

According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the declaration reflects the collective commitment of BRICS nations to strengthen cooperation in developing more resilient, sustainable and efficient transport systems while promoting knowledge sharing and joint research across member countries.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari thanked participating delegations for their constructive engagement and consensus in adopting the declaration, describing it as an important step towards deeper collaboration among BRICS nations.

India also reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a smooth transition of the initiatives to the next BRICS Chair while acknowledging the contributions of all member countries in shaping the final outcome.

The four-day programme brought together transport ministers, senior government officials and technical experts from BRICS countries for discussions on transport policy, logistics, infrastructure development and sustainable mobility. Alongside the official meetings, bilateral engagements and cultural programmes were organised to strengthen institutional cooperation and people-to-people ties among participating nations.

The adoption of the declaration is expected to support closer collaboration on multimodal transport, supply chain resilience, logistics efficiency and sustainable transport solutions, reinforcing BRICS' role in addressing emerging global transport and infrastructure challenges.
