Amazon India has created more than 150,000 seasonal work opportunities across its operations network as the festive season approaches. These jobs cover fulfilment centres, sort centres and last mile delivery stations in over 400 cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Cochin, Coimbatore, Indore, Raipur, Jalandhar, Jodhpur, Ranchi, Anantnag and Jalgaon. The company has already onboarded a majority of these associates.

Thousands of women and more than 2,000 persons with disabilities have joined Amazon’s workforce this festive season. Abhinav Singh, Vice President - Operations, India & Australia, Amazon, said the company is focused on ensuring fast and reliable deliveries across every serviceable pin code in India. He added that many seasonal workers return to Amazon year after year, and the company prioritises the safety and wellbeing of all associates.

Amazon highlighted that its festive workforce will support millions of customers during the celebrations. Manisha Singh, an associate working at a fulfilment centre in Bengaluru, said she was grateful to join Amazon, pointing out the company’s focus on safety and the sense of fulfilment in helping deliver happiness to families during the festive season.

To support its associates, Amazon has expanded initiatives such as Ashray rest centres, now numbering 100 across the country. More than 80,000 delivery associates have benefitted from free health check-ups under a health and wellbeing programme that provides eye, dental, BMI and physician consultations directly at last-mile delivery stations.

Amazon also offers benefits including safe and comfortable facilities with clean washrooms, safe drinking water, air-conditioned cafeterias and vending machines at larger sites. Associates have access to onsite medical facilities through AMCARE first-aid centres, which provide rest areas, oral hydration, heating pads and qualified nurses. Employees can also be referred to hospitals when required.

The company has developed its own forecasting tool to alert staff during severe weather events and takes measures such as temporarily suspending work to ensure safety. Financial flexibility is provided through the Early Access to Pay programme, allowing associates to withdraw up to 80 percent of their basic salary mid-month. Amazon also conducts financial wellbeing camps called Samriddhi camps and offers online education programmes.

All associates at Amazon sites work five days a week and are entitled to statutory holidays, annual leave, casual leave and sick leave. They also receive social security benefits including provident fund, Employees State Insurance Corporation coverage and gratuity. Beyond statutory benefits, Amazon covers its workforce with group mediclaim, accident and term insurance policies.

Amazon India continues to build an inclusive workplace with industry-leading facilities, supporting more than 1.6 million sellers across the country. Its fulfilment network spans 15 states with over 43 million cubic feet of storage space, sortation centres in 19 states, close to 2,000 delivery stations, 28,000 “I Have Space” partners and thousands of Amazon Flex partners delivering across India.
