Sarjak Container Lines partners OGL to expand Maldives cargo services
The partnership will support project, breakbulk, OOG and container cargo with stronger local logistics and last-mile services across the Maldives.

Sarjak Container Lines (SCL) has partnered with Ocean Gate Logistics (OGL) to strengthen its on-ground logistics capabilities in the Maldives. The partnership will support the movement of containerised cargo, project cargo, breakbulk, out-of-gauge (OOG) shipments and general commercial cargo, while also providing local and last-mile logistics services across the island nation.
Announced on 20 July 2026, the partnership combines SCL’s international expertise in specialised cargo movements with OGL’s local market knowledge, operational presence in Malé and established terminal relationships.
The partnership comes as the Maldives continues to see infrastructure development. India-backed projects, including the $500 million Greater Malé Connectivity Project (Thilamale Bridge), have entered their peak construction phase, increasing demand for the movement of oversized, heavy and specialised cargo. At the same time, free trade agreement negotiations between India and the Maldives are formally underway.
“The Maldives is an important market within the Indian Ocean region, particularly as ongoing infrastructure and development activity creates demand for reliable and specialised logistics capabilities,” said Ashish Sheth, Chairman and Managing Director, Sarjak Container Lines.
“Moving complex and oversized cargo into an island market requires more than international shipping capability. It requires strong coordination at destination, local operational knowledge and the ability to manage cargo movement beyond the primary port. Through our partnership with Ocean Gate Logistics, we are strengthening this on-ground capability and positioning ourselves to better support customers with specialised and project cargo requirements in the Maldives,” he added.
Under the partnership, OGL will support SCL’s inbound shipments into Malé, provide local coordination, assist with container repositioning and facilitate related logistics activities within the Maldives. With Malé serving as the primary port of coverage, OGL will also facilitate onward cargo movement to other islands through barge and local logistics services.
According to the companies, project cargo in the Maldives is a specialised segment where complexity, rather than volume, drives the need for expertise. Transporting oversized and specialised cargo across an island geography requires coordinated international and local execution, from vessel planning to inter-island barge movement.
Sarjak Container Lines said it has experience in handling OOG and breakbulk cargo for infrastructure, engineering, energy, manufacturing and industrial projects across Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Through its representation by OGL, the company will support cargo movements between the Maldives and its wider international network across these markets.
