Global logistics player, DP World and the Cochin Port Authority (CoPA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance the cargo handling infrastructure at DP World's terminal in Cochin.

The partnership aims to modernise the port's facilities, enabling it to accommodate larger vessels and aligning the infrastructure with the nation's ambitious Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.

The enhancement of the marine infrastructure at DP World’s International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) will receive support from the Government of India.

Rizwan Soomar, CEO & Managing Director, MENA and India Subcontinent, DP World, said, “Strengthening Kerala’s maritime infrastructure will be key to supporting India's vision for leadership in global trade, calling CoPA a critical enabler of India’s trade and supply chain integration.

The MoU exchange took place during the India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, in the presence of the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), Sarbananda Sonowal, and H.E. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DP World.

B. Kasiviswanathan, Chairperson, Cochin Port Authority (CoPA), said: “This partnership with DP World marks a new chapter in Cochin Port’s modernisation and maritime capabilities. The proposed enhancement of ICTT’s infrastructure, enabling the berthing of large vessels, will unlock new opportunities for trade, logistics, and industrial growth.”
