APEDA facilitates first biscuit export from Varanasi to Oman
India-Oman CEPA enabled Varanasi’s 40 MT first biscuit export consignment.

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has facilitated the export of a 40 metric tonne (MT) consignment of biscuits from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh to Oman, marking the first such shipment from the city following the India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). The export aims to strengthen processed food trade, expand market access for Indian manufacturers and support the integration of eastern Uttar Pradesh’s food processing sector into global supply chains.
The shipment has been undertaken by M/s Shree Tirupati Balajee Industries Pvt. Ltd., a manufacturer-exporter based in Varanasi.According to APEDA, the export represents an important milestone for processed food exports from the region and reflects increasing opportunities for value-added agricultural products in international markets.
To support export readiness and international outreach, APEDA has been assisting the exporter through multiple export promotion initiatives, including participation in domestic and international trade exhibitions such as AAHAR 2026 and Gulfood 2026.
These initiatives have helped improve product visibility and create market access opportunities for manufacturers from the Varanasi region.
The export consignment will begin its journey from Varanasi before moving to the Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Kanpur for customs clearance. From there, it will be transported to Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) for onward shipment to Oman. The shipment gains added significance as India and Oman continue to deepen economic and trade ties under the framework of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.
The agreement is expected to improve market access and generate new export opportunities for Indian businesses, particularly in the agricultural and processed food sectors. APEDA indicated that additional shipments to Oman are planned in the coming months, reflecting rising demand and growing export opportunities for processed food products from the region.
The first biscuit shipment from Varanasi to Oman highlights the expanding capabilities of eastern Uttar Pradesh’s food processing industry and aligns with efforts to strengthen emerging agri-export hubs across India.
