DFCCIL invites bids for Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal at New Nilaje
The proposed terminal will connect to the Dedicated Freight Corridor network, with pre-bid meetings scheduled for July 30 and tender opening on August 31.
The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) has invited stakeholders to participate in the Request for Proposal (RFP) for the development of a Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal (GCT) at New Nilaje.
According DFCCIL, the project aims to strengthen India's multimodal logistics ecosystem by developing freight infrastructure with seamless connectivity to the Dedicated Freight Corridor network.
The RFP was uploaded on July 17, 2026. A pre-bid meeting has been scheduled for July 30, while bid submission will begin on August 17. The tender is set to be opened on August 31, 2026.
DFCCIL said the project is part of its efforts to develop the next generation of freight logistics infrastructure in India.
The RFP follows the completion of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), after DFCCIL successfully conducted a trial run on the final 102-km JNPT–New Saphale section earlier this year. With this, the entire 1,506-km WDFC became operational, providing seamless rail connectivity between Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) and northern India. The corridor is designed to improve freight movement by reducing transit times, increasing train speeds and enabling the operation of longer and heavier freight trains. The development of Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals along the corridor is expected to support multimodal logistics by facilitating efficient cargo handling and providing first- and last-mile connectivity between rail and road. The proposed terminal at New Nilaje is one such facility intended to leverage the capacity of the completed freight corridor and strengthen cargo movement in the Mumbai region.
