DHL Group has announced the opening of its fifth DHL IT Services (ITS) centre in India, reinforcing the country’s growing importance as a global hub for technology talent and digital innovation. Located in Indore, the new facility marks DHL ITS’s first dedicated technology training academy in India and adds to its existing centres in Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Mumbai.

The centre is part of DHL Group’s broader strategy to strengthen its digital backbone under Strategy 2030, where digitalisation is one of the company’s five global megatrends. DHL ITS, the technology arm of the logistics provider, employs nearly 6,000 professionals worldwide, including more than 1,300 in India. The new Indore site has already onboarded 100 employees and will serve as a hub for building future-ready digital and logistics capabilities.

“Digitalisation is central to the future of logistics, and India plays a pivotal role in building that foundation for DHL globally,” said Supriya Rao Patwardhan, Executive Vice President and Global Head of IT Services, DHL Group. “With its deep talent pool and strong government focus on skills, India is enabling us to deliver AI, automation, and digital solutions that enhance productivity and customer experience.”

Why Indore?
DHL selected Indore for its thriving academic ecosystem and high retention rates, positioning it as a strong base for sustainable growth. The company plans to collaborate with local universities and institutions to strengthen curricula and provide career pathways for students to join DHL ITS.

“We are proud to be the first major international logistics player to establish a centre in Indore,” said Johan Berghs, SVP, Global Head of Digital Solutions and Head of DHL ITS India. “Indore offers a vibrant talent pool, and by tapping into it, we are creating jobs, career pathways, and global opportunities for technology professionals.”

Over the past two years, DHL ITS India has grown rapidly from one to five centres in 18 months. Moreover, the Indore centre will not only support DHL’s global digital projects but also serve as a training academy for employees in areas such as AI, automation, leadership, and digital technologies.

With more than 1,300 experts in India today, DHL ITS collaborates with over 15 technology partners and works with leading universities through five academic partnerships to align industry needs with education.

Driving global innovation from India
DHL ITS India contributes to the Group’s worldwide logistics operations, developing AI-enabled logistics platforms, robotics, IoT solutions, and advanced analytics on secure, scalable systems. By leveraging India’s deep technology expertise, the company is shaping DHL’s global competitiveness and resilience.

“In just eight years—and especially in the past two—we’ve built a powerhouse of talent in India,” added Berghs. “What we’re offering goes beyond jobs: we’re creating global career pathways, exposure, and leadership opportunities for the next generation of professionals.”

Globally, DHL ITS ensures the seamless 24/7 operations of DHL Group by delivering secure, scalable, and resilient IT solutions across on-premises and cloud environments. The Indore expansion reflects DHL’s long-term investment in India, a country that is fast becoming a central node in the logistics company’s digital future.
