Milan Laboratories has appointed Arloph John Vieira as Head of Supply Chain Management, bringing more than three decades of pharmaceutical industry experience to the role. In his new role, Vieira will oversee Milan Laboratories’ end-to-end supply chain operations, spanning planning, packaging development, procurement, operations, and logistics.
Headquartered in Thane, Milan Laboratories (India) is an Indian pharmaceutical manufacturer and exporter established in 1976. The company manufactures a range of pharmaceutical formulations, including tablets, capsules, liquid orals, dry syrups, ointments, and beta-lactam products, including penicillin-based medicines. It operates manufacturing facilities in Panvel and Dahej, Gujarat, and has a dedicated R&D facility at Panvel. Its export footprint spans markets across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, North America, and Central America.
Vieira moves to Milan Laboratories after serving as Vice President – Supply Chain at Bajaj Healthcare for more than four years, where he led supply chain operations across a pharmaceutical business. Previously, he served as Head of Supply Chain & Sourcing - Woman Healthcare at Mylan Laboratories for close to seven years, from 2011 to 2018.
He has also held senior supply chain and operations roles with Kopran, Strides Arcolab, and Shalina Laboratories, besides serving as General Manager – Planning at Glenmark Pharmaceuticals. His career also includes experience with Cipla and Alembic, giving him a broad perspective across pharmaceutical manufacturing, planning, sourcing, and supply chain operations.
He is a sharp observer of the accountability gaps in pharma logistics, and in this video from GPLS 2024, Arloph John Vieira recounts a personal experience of a temperature excursion on the tarmac of an Indian airport, highlighting how, when something goes wrong, nobody seems willing to take ownership.
With a background in pharmacy and advanced qualifications in management, Vieira brings expertise spanning procurement, production planning, inventory optimisation, sourcing, distribution, and supply chain strategy. His recent work has also focused on technology, visibility, and resilience in pharmaceutical supply chains, including cold-chain and pharma logistics.
Beyond his corporate career, Vieira has also been closely associated with management education. He served as Director of Swayam Siddhi College of Management & Research (SSCMR), Thane, and was an Associate Professor at Dr V. N. Bedekar Institute of Management Studies (BRIMS), Thane. He has also been involved in doctoral research as a PhD guide, with two students having already been awarded their PhDs under his guidance.
The appointment comes as pharmaceutical supply chains face growing pressure to balance resilience, cost efficiency, regulatory compliance, and end-to-end visibility.
Vieira will be speaking at the upcoming Global Pharma Logistics Summit 2026 in Mumbai on Friday, October 9, 2026.
