TVS Supply Chain Solutions (TVS SCS), an integrated logistics provider, has announced the establishment of a new 40,000-square-foot warehousing facility dedicated to strengthening the global supply chain operations of heavy equipment manufacturer Caterpillar.
Located within the Free Trade and Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) in Mannur Village, approximately 30 kilometers from Chennai, the new facility is designed to streamline parts procurement from multiple countries and directly support Caterpillar’s expansive manufacturing operations.
According to the press release, the modern warehouse boasts approximately 4,000 pallet positions, equipping Caterpillar to optimise lead times, lower landed costs, and respond with greater agility to fluctuating global demand.
The Chennai–Bengaluru Industrial Corridor offers robust connectivity to the Chennai, Ennore, and Kamarajar ports. Together, these three maritime hubs handle nearly 20 percent of India’s total container traffic, providing a significant logistical advantage for import and export activities.
“Our tailored solution for Caterpillar strengthens supply chain resilience amid global trade volatility,” said Ravi Viswanathan, Managing Director of TVS Supply Chain Solutions. “By combining the FTWZ model with our end-to-end warehousing capabilities, we enable faster and more efficient global supply chain movements, helping Caterpillar withstand trade disruptions.”
The new Mannur Village facility builds upon a collaborative five-year relationship between the two companies. Currently, TVS SCS also manages Caterpillar’s external warehouse operations in Hosur, India, as well as its in-plant warehousing, deploying specialized personnel to maintain seamless manufacturing operations.
Ramesh Muthuraman, Director of Operations at Caterpillar India said, “As we continue to strengthen our global supply chain network, the FTWZ facility established by TVS Supply Chain Solutions enhances our sourcing flexibility. TVS SCS has deep expertise in managing complex, multi-country supply chains, enabling us to better navigate global trade conditions.”
