Mahindra Logistics Ltd. (MLL), a prominent provider of integrated logistics and transportation solutions in India, is committed to DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) in its workforce. MLL said today that, in an effort to achieve true equality, it has teamed with female e-bike riders for last-mile deliveries.

The initiative aspires to transform the logistics business by empowering women and ensuring their inclusion in all activities. MLL aspires to create a difference in the logistics business by giving equitable possibilities for women, especially in non-traditional logistics professions, allowing them to become self-sufficient.

In order to achieve this goal, MLL has appointed 11 women riders for last-mile delivery throughout Mumbai, Bangalore, and Nagpur in the initial phase of this project. Mahindra Logistics is aggressively striving toward a comprehensive implementation of this program to make it more efficient. Furthermore, the firm is giving full training to female candidates in the areas of safe e-bike riding, last-mile delivery, and soft skills.

The company prioritizes the safety of its female drivers by deploying cars equipped with GPS monitoring, allowing MLL to troubleshoot any issues about longer stops or deviations from the authorized route.

Commenting on the announcement, Rampraveen Swaminathan, MD & CEO, Mahindra Logistics said, “We are delighted to be leading the way in hiring women e-bike drivers for last-mile delivery, as part of our commitment to promoting gender diversity in the workforce. We believe that equal opportunities create a more productive and successful workplace, and we are proud to be at the forefront of progressive initiatives that are enabling the logistics industry to transform. As a part of our expansion plans, on-boarding more women drivers, fleet owners and other transporters will be a major focus for us at MLL. We remain committed to our larger RISE purpose, by actively working towards creating an environment where women can thrive and contribute their unique skills and perspectives to our organization and the society as a whole.”
