To improve efficiency and sustainability in the logistics sector, Flyjac Logistics, a Group Company of LOGISTEED Japan, inaugurated its second Multi-Purpose Logistics Centre (MPLC) in India on March 7, 2024. After the company’s first MPLC in Chennai in November 2022, Flyjac made a Rs 300 crore investment to set up a new logistics centre in Taloja, Navi Mumbai.

The company currently operates more than 100 warehouses with cumulative space spanning more than 70 lakh square feet of warehouse area. Spread across 5 lakh square feet on 22 acres of land, the new MPLC is in line with the company’s plan to set up multi-purpose logistic centres in all metro cities in India at a total cost exceeding Rs 700 crores.

The Navi Mumbai facility is equipped with automation technologies, including auto truck unloading and automatic battery-operated pallet trolleys, which will enhance the overall efficiency of logistics operations. Further, the company mentioned in a recent press release that MPLC’s infrastructure can be scaled up to meet future warehousing, trucking, and technology requirements. An AI-based Control Tower monitors and controls warehouse operations for speedy and efficient execution.

At the MPLC inaugural event, Flyjac’s CEO and MD, AV Ravikumar, thanked the customers for their immense faith and contributions, which have driven Flyjac from its humble beginnings. Flyjac began in 1990 as a small freight forwarding partnership and is now a subsidiary of LOGISTEED, Ltd., a leading Japanese logistics firm offering end-to-end logistics solutions to optimise supply chain operations.

Sharing his enthusiasm and optimism regarding the growth opportunities that lay ahead, Ravikumar reaffirmed that Flyjac would continue to uphold its founding values of ‘Customer Delight, Self-development and Social Welfare.’

The event was attended by Kaneko Toshihiro, Chief Consul of the Consulate General of Japan in Mumbai, Kazuhiko Zaiki, Operating Officer, Business Development HQ, LOGISTEED, Japan, Flyjac’s founding members, and customers, among others. During the customer meeting, Zaiki shared LOGISTEED Japan’s investment strategy in India, which includes setting up MPLCs in Delhi and Bengaluru and expanding the existing MPLC in Chennai.

Flyjac Logistics, which serves more than 300 corporate customers, employs 3,500 personnel and operates 30 freight forwarding offices across the country and abroad. The company recently appointed Narayanankutty Kariyankal as its Vice President of Airfreight and Pharma Vertical. Before joining Flyjac, Kariyankal has been with DHL Global Forwarding (DGF) for 26 years. At the time of his retirement he was the vice president for air freight at DGF South Asia.

In a social post, Narayanankutty K recently wrote, “At Flyjac Logistics, sustainability is the core of our actions. We believe that leaving back a green planet for our upcoming generation is our responsibility.”
