Ekart, the logistics arm of Flipkart, has expanded its partnership with IKEA to enable sustainable last-mile deliveries in Chennai, with all orders in the city now being fulfilled through a dedicated electric vehicle (EV) fleet.

The collaboration will see Ekart manage end-to-end delivery operations for IKEA orders placed via its website and app in Chennai, marking the second major city after Delhi-NCR where the logistics provider handles the retailer’s last-mile operations.

Under the partnership, Ekart will oversee the movement of more than 600 products, including large-format furniture, home décor and household items that require specialised handling, ensuring consistent doorstep delivery across the city.

The company will use its technology-driven fulfilment network and optimised routing systems to enable deliveries within a 48-hour window, while offering customers real-time tracking and complete shipment visibility from fulfilment hubs to delivery.

The EV-led supply chain is designed to support scalable and sustainable logistics operations, reflecting both companies’ focus on zero-emission last-mile deliveries and environmentally responsible supply chain solutions.

Mani Bhushan, Chief Business Officer at Ekart, said the expanded partnership highlights the company’s capability to build specialised, enterprise-grade supply chain solutions for large-format retail. Saiba Suri, Country Customer Fulfilment Manager at IKEA India, said the collaboration will help the company serve customers faster and more seamlessly as it expands its omnichannel presence in the country.
