The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has officially cleared Japan Post Co.’s acquisition of a 19.9% equity stake in Logisteed Holdings. The deal, which grants the Japanese postal 14.9% of voting rights, is more than a mere financial transaction.

It is a strategic alignment designed to bridge Japan Post’s global postal and cargo network with Logisteed’s specialised industrial logistics footprint, with India serving as the primary theater for growth.

Indian Operations
The acquisition is structured around three distinct, specialised pillars. Flyjac Logistics is the core engine for Logisteed's operations in India. Evolving from a freight forwarding partnership, Flyjac has become a 3PL provider. It is now the operational foundation for the group's expansion in warehouse and contract logistics.

Vantec Logistics India specialises in the automotive sector. As the group's logistics expert, Vantec manages just-in-time supply chains, which are crucial for maintaining the operational flow of India's manufacturing plants.

Following recent global integration, the Alps unit focuses on the high-growth electronics sector, providing niche services such as component inspection and assembly.

Logisteed has been pivoting toward a right-asset strategy, pouring over ₹700 crore into its multipurpose logistics centres (MPLC). These state-of-the-art hubs are designed to provide a one-stop-shop for global clients entering the Indian market.

The company recently operationalised its flagship Mumbai Logistics Centre in Taloja, a 5-lakh-sq-ft facility with direct access to Nhava Sheva Port and the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport. This joins the maiden MPLC in Chennai, with new facilities scheduled for Bangalore (late 2025) and Delhi (2026) to complete a pan-India network.

The Japan Post-Logisteed partnership arrives as India’s logistics sector is projected to grow at a 10.7% CAGR through 2026. For Japan, India offers a unique combination of the China plus one strategy as global manufacturers diversify, India has become the preferred hub for electronics and automotive exports.

Logisteed is deploying its SCDOS (Supply Chain Design & Optimisation) and SSCV (Smart Safe City Vehicle) platforms in India to solve local challenges in road safety and real-time tracking.
