DP World has launched the city’s first dedicated reefer rail freight service from Thimmapur, Hyderabad, to Nhava Sheva, in collaboration with Ocean Network Express (ONE). The service provides Hyderabad’s pharmaceutical exporters with a reliable, temperature-controlled alternative to road transport while ensuring direct vessel connectivity.

The new weekly service can carry up to 43 forty-feet containers in a single train, with four scheduled services per month, moving more than 172 containers from road to rail. By consolidating cargo in a single train, the service aligns with vessel schedules and reduces road congestion, equivalent to removing 43 trucks from the roads every day.

Each container is equipped with DP World’s proprietary powerpacks to maintain precise temperature control throughout the journey. Dedicated technicians accompany every train, digitally monitoring cargo conditions in real time to ensure integrity and security.

Adhendru Jain, Vice President – Rail and Inland Terminals, DP World Subcontinent, said the service provides Hyderabad’s pharmaceutical exporters with an integrated cold chain advantage, assured vessel connectivity, secure cargo movement, and a sustainable model that reduces carbon emissions.

Masahiro Sakikubo, Managing Director, Ocean Network Express (India), added that the rail–sea integration reduces delays, provides dependable schedules, and strengthens India’s position in global trade.

The service is expected to cut carbon emissions by up to 70% compared to road transport, supporting Telangana’s efforts to enhance multimodal logistics. DP World operates eight inland rail terminals, over 100 container rakes, and more than 16,000 containers and trailers, making it one of India’s largest private rail freight operators and enabling faster, cleaner, and more reliable trade routes.

This launch reinforces DP World’s commitment to strengthening India’s pharmaceutical supply chain and building future-ready logistics that meet both national priorities and global demand.
