Saudia Cargo adds Dhaka-Frankfurt freighter route
The twice-weekly service began on August 14 and is expected to support shipments between Bangladesh and European markets.
Saudia Cargo has launched a scheduled freighter service connecting Dhaka, Bangladesh, with Frankfurt, Germany, expanding its international cargo network and strengthening links between South Asia and Europe.
The new service began on August 14 and operates twice a week. Saudia Cargo said the direct connection is designed to improve trade flows and logistics efficiency between Asian and European markets while providing faster and more reliable transit times for international shipments.
The route connects Bangladesh, a major manufacturing and export hub, with Frankfurt, one of Europe's key logistics hubs. The service is expected to support the movement of commodities including textiles, pharmaceuticals, industrial equipment and e-commerce shipments.
Saudia Cargo said the twice-weekly service will provide reliable cargo capacity to meet demand for faster cross-border deliveries and give commercial partners and freight forwarders access to major European consumer and industrial markets.
The launch is part of Saudia Cargo's wider network expansion and follows investments to increase operational capacity and modernise its dedicated cargo fleet. The company has also agreed to acquire four Boeing 777-200 freighters.
Saudia Cargo has also been expanding its network through an interline agreement with Riyadh Cargo, signed in July. The partnership is aimed at extending cargo connectivity and giving customers access to more international markets through Saudi Arabia. It supports Riyadh Cargo’s planned expansion to destinations including Mumbai, Kuala Lumpur and Dhaka, as it works towards serving more than 100 destinations by 2030.
In July, Saudia Cargo also started scheduled freighter services to Australia’s Avalon Airport, establishing a direct cargo link between Saudi Arabia and Australia. The first flight was operated by a Boeing 747-400 freighter, 46 days after Avalon Airport and the Australia Saudi Logistics Alliance signed an MoU.
