The Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) has appointed Wong Hong as its next Director General, effective 1 April 2026, marking a major leadership transition as current Director General, Subhas Menon steps down after leading the Association since 2020.

AAPA said Wong brings over 22 years of international aviation experience, with senior roles in network planning, revenue management and sales at Singapore Airlines and Delta Air Lines. His most recent position was Delta Air Lines’ President, China, where he led the carrier’s growth in the China market through close cooperation with China Eastern Airlines.

He has worked across Asia, including China, India, Thailand and Vietnam, gaining strong regional understanding. His early career included ground handling and catering roles at SATS, and experience in distribution and financial services at IATA.

Reporting through the Executive Committee to the AAPA Assembly of Presidents, Wong will represent the interests of the Association and its member airlines on aviation policy issues. AAPA noted that it has built a strong reputation as a credible voice for Asia Pacific airlines, supporting safe, sustainable and competitive air transport across the region.

Subhas Menon welcomed his successor and said it had been an honour to serve as Director General. He expressed confidence that AAPA would continue to thrive under Mr Wong’s leadership as the region navigates a rapidly changing aviation landscape.

AAPA Chairman 2025 and Bangkok Airways President, Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, thanked Menon for his leadership, noting that he strengthened advocacy efforts and expanded membership to 18 airlines despite the challenges of the COVID pandemic. He said the Association would benefit from Wong’s broad regional experience and industry knowledge.

Wong said he was honoured to take up the role and looked forward to working with member airlines and industry partners. He added that Asia Pacific remains central to global aviation and reaffirmed his commitment to support the region’s sustainable growth and competitiveness.
