VO Chidambaranar Port sets cargo handling record
November 16, 2017: VO Chidambaranar Port recently handled 1,65,189 metric tonne of cargo in a single day breaking its own previous single day record of 1,61,935 metric tonne.

November 16, 2017: VO Chidambaranar Port recently handled 1,65,189 metric tonne of cargo in a single day breaking its own previous single day record of 1,61,935 metric tonne.
The major cargoes that contributed to the achievement are industrial coal, thermal coal, fertilizer & fertilizer raw materials and containerized cargoes.
Port Trust chairman I Jeyakumar said that the port is continuously striving to achieve improvement in performance and productivity to attract more volume of traffic in the coming days.
The port also made news last month when it handled a 262-metre long container vessel at its Dakshin Bharat Gateway Terminal.
