United Cargo adds Delhi, Mumbai to TempControl network

United Cargo today expanded its service for temperature-sensitive shipments by adding two cities in India - Delhi and Mumbai - to its worldwide TempControl network. TempControl service is now available for both import and export shipments in Delhi, and is available for import shipments only into Mumbai. In an associated service enhancement, the carriage of dry ice is now permitted on United flights to and from both Delhi and Mumbai. United Airlines serves Delhi via Indira Gandhi International Airport and Mumbai via Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. United operates daily Boeing 777 nonstop flights to and from both cities and its hub at Newark Liberty International Airport. The addition of these two India cities brings the number of certified United Cargo TempControl locations worldwide to 49. "Delhi and Mumbai are particularly noteworthy additions to United's TempControl network," said Mary Tussing, United Cargo's Manager of Specialty Sales. "As one of the principal 'pharmerging' countries, the market for drugs and medicines in India is expected to grow quickly as improved health care becomes a priority for India's government and its citizens. "India also has exciting potential as an pharmaceutical export market," Tussing added. "The country is home to a significant number of U.S. FDA-approved manufacturing sites and produces a large percentage of the world's generic drugs. The generic segment of the market will increase in the future as more popular medicines lose their patent protection."
