March 18, 2020: The global e-commerce giant, Amazon has partnered with the temperature-controlled logistics provide Snowman Logistics for the delivery of FMCG perishables including vegetables, fruits, eggs, frozen food and groceries in Mumbai.

This partnership plans to replicate the same in Delhi and other cities soon.

A pilot project in stealth mode was launched in Mumbai late last year in Western Maharashtra. As part of the pilot, Snowman Logistics set up a collection centre in Manchar near Pune to facilitate the collection of vegetables and fruits directly from farmers. The farm produce is then shipped to the Snowman Logistics sorting and grading centre located in Taloja, Navi Mumbai, where the farm produce is further sorted, graded and packed for home delivery purpose. This is then transported to the six fulfilment hubs of the e-commerce player located around Mumbai for onward delivery.

The company has 293 refrigerated vehicles and 31 strategically located temperature-controlled warehouses with a total pallet capacity of 1,04,343 located across 15 cities, including the key markets of Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru & Kolkata.

Snowman caters to a network of clients, who source and consume temperature-sensitive products including dairy products, canned food items, poultry and meat, seafood, healthcare and pharmaceutical products.

Sunil Nair, CEO, Snowman Logistics said, “We are excited about this partnership to assist the e-commerce giant in their ambition to foray into the FMCG perishable business. We will be replicating this model across the country. This is a validation of our market leadership and endorsement of our state-of-the-art temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics.
