Tata Steel’s 1,500 MT consignment reaches Guwahati via Indo-Bangladesh route
Tata Steel shipped 1,499 MT of materials from Kolkata to Larsen & Toubro in Guwahati.

A high-value consignment of industrial raw materials successfully reached the Pandu port, traveling via the Indo-Bangladesh protocol (IBP) route. The shipment highlights the growing reliability and cost-effectiveness of the subcontinent's inland waterway network.
The cargo, dispatched by Tata Steel from Kolkata and destined for Larsen & Toubro in Guwahati, was a heavy-duty delivery consisting of 1,199 MT of granulated blast furnace slag, which was packaged in 23,980 bags, along with 300 MT of TMT reinforcement bars.
The journey was powered by the tug MV Trishul, which navigated the river systems towing two specialised barges, D.B. Dikhu and D.B. Ajay. This successful docking at Pandu highlights a shift in how major industrial players are moving bulk goods across the Northeast, bypassing traditional road bottlenecks in favor of blue economy routes.
