Tailwind Shipping Lines, a subsidiary of the retail Lidl, and WiseTech Global have announced a direct data integration partnership with CargoWise, the logistics execution platform widely used by the world’s largest freight forwarders and third-party logistics providers (3PLs).

According to the press release, this direct connection allows CargoWise customers to access Tailwind’s schedules, dynamic rates, and capacity in real-time. Freight forwarders can now plan, book, confirm, and manage shipments without leaving the CargoWise ecosystem. The integration also allows for the modification of digital bookings up until final execution, significantly reducing administrative friction.

Nico Peters, VP of Commercial Management at Tailwind Shipping Lines, said, “The direct integration with CargoWise removes manual steps from the process and ensures data consistency from start to finish. It is a smarter, more digital shipping experience built around speed and accuracy, which exactly mirrors Tailwind’s key characteristics.”

Bjorn Schwarz, Carrier Integration and Transformation Manager at WiseTech Global, noted that the integration removes the need for double data entry and unnecessary email communication, thereby reducing human error.

"Transparent real-time data sharing enables Tailwind to optimize their planning and capacity management and quickly act on market changes," Schwarz said. He added that the initial phase of this integration focuses specifically on ocean freight.

Tailwind Shipping Lines has carved a niche in the logistics market by focusing on speed and reliability. By utilising smaller ports and making fewer calls, the carrier aims to minimize delays common in larger hubs.

The shipping services described include the Panda Express Service (PAX), which connects China and the Mediterranean, and the Tiger Express Service (TEX), which links Bangladesh, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Sri Lanka.

Additionally, the Dolphin Express Service (DEX) operates as a European short-sea service, transporting goods between Barcelona, Spain, and Moerdijk, Netherlands.
