JSW signs concession agreement with Kolkata port authority
The signing follows the Letter of Award received on July 7, 2025, and the incorporation of JSW Kolkata Container on August 1, 2025, specifically for this project.

JSW Infrastructure Limited has signed a concession agreement through its wholly owned subsidiary, JSW Kolkata Container Terminal Private Limited, with the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority in Kolkata. The agreement, executed on September 15, 2025, grants a 30-year concession for the reconstruction of Berth 8 and mechanisation of Berths 7 and 8 at Netaji Subhas Dock under the Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer model through the public-private partnership route.
The project involves an estimated investment of ₹740 crore and a construction timeline of two years. Operations will be permitted during the construction phase, allowing JSW Infrastructure to leverage steady cargo volumes from Kolkata. Once completed, the project is expected to enhance container handling capacity and operational efficiency at the port.

With this project, JSW Infrastructure’s container handling capacity will increase to nearly 1 million TEUs. The company currently operates the New Mangalore Container Terminal on the west coast, where capacity is being expanded from 0.2 million TEUs to 0.35 million TEUs.
JSW Infrastructure is India’s second-largest private commercial port operator, with 12 port concessions across the east and west coasts and an international terminal in Fujairah, UAE. The company has set a target to expand its total cargo-handling capacity to 400 million tonnes per annum by 2030 or earlier.
