The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) and the Indian Ports Association (IPA), under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), hosted the “Leaders’ Dialogue on Green & Digital Maritime Corridors” in Mumbai on 12 August 2025. The event brought together over 300 delegates from India and abroad to set the stage for India Maritime Week 2025, to be held from 27 to 31 October in Mumbai.

The event discussed how the India–Singapore Green & Digital Shipping Corridor will drive low-emission technology adoption, strengthen digital tools, and transform maritime operations.

Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal said, “The India–Singapore Green & Digital Shipping Corridor will accelerate the adoption of low-emission technologies, strengthen digital tools, and transform maritime operations. These corridors are not just trade routes but economic, green, and digital pathways that will redefine global trade dynamics.”

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “Vadhavan Port is poised to be among the top ten ports globally from the very first day of operations, transforming the maritime infrastructure ecosystem of India.”

Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong called the 60-year India–Singapore partnership “a model for global cooperation” and said collaboration in green shipping, renewable energy, and maritime innovation will help accelerate the transition to a sustainable future. Acting Minister for Transport of Singapore Jeffrey Siow said an MoU on the Green & Digital Shipping Corridor will be concluded in September 2025 to enable joint work on technology and sustainability.

MoPSW Secretary T K Ramachandran said that international corridors such as the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor, the International North-South Transport Corridor, and the Eastern Maritime Corridor are driving global maritime integration and sustainable development. He said the India–Singapore corridor aligns with both countries’ priorities in clean energy, smart logistics, and digital innovation.

MoPSW Joint Secretary (Ports) R Lakshmanan said India Maritime Week 2025 will showcase India’s maritime capabilities, innovation, and global partnerships under the theme “Uniting Oceans, One Maritime Vision.” JNPA Chairman Unmesh Sharad Wagh emphasised the port’s role in building “greener, smarter, more connected corridors”.

The dialogue featured thematic sessions on maritime reforms, infrastructure, and international cooperation, followed by panel discussions on resilient and sustainable economic corridors. The event was supported by ASSOCHAM as Industry Partner and Grant Thornton Bharat LLP as Knowledge Partner.
