Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), India’s largest container port, handled 19,50,188 TEUs of container traffic from April 2025 to June 2025, an increase of 15.52 percent compared to the corresponding period in the previous financial year.

JNPA handled 24.20 million tonnes of total cargo from April to June, an increase of 10 percent compared to the corresponding period in the previous financial year, says an official release.

"JNPA’s steady momentum in container handling is driven by efficient terminal operations. As capacity utilisation improves and support services align with demand, the port is well positioned to meet higher throughput in the coming months," the release added.

Currently, JNPA operates five container terminals - NSFT, NSICT, NSIGT, BMCT and APMT. The port also has a shallow water berth for general cargo. A liquid cargo terminal is managed by the BPCL-IOCL consortium, and the additional liquid cargo terminal developed by JNPA will be operated by JSW - JNPT Liquid Terminal, the release added.

JNPA is also developing an all-weather, deep-draft, greenfield port at Vadhvan, the 13th major port of India in Maharashtra. It is poised to be among the top 10 ports globally and will be a 100 percent green port from inception.
