Amlan Bora named Port of Rotterdam chief representative for South Asia
The appointment is part of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ strategy to deepen engagement with South Asian countries.

The Port of Rotterdam Authority has appointed Amlan Bora as its Chief Representative for India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The appointment, made through Dhanoni Advisory LLP, is aimed at strengthening supply chain ties and strategic partnerships between South Asia and Western Europe via Rotterdam.
As Chief Representative, Bora will support the Port of Rotterdam Authority and its stakeholders in establishing supply chains for cargo, bulk commodities and new energy molecules such as hydrogen carriers. He will also assist in exploring opportunities in critical raw materials between Europe and South Asia. India’s growing role in the global hydrogen and critical materials markets aligns with this effort.
Bora operates from Dhanoni’s Ahmedabad office in Gujarat, a maritime state with long-standing ties to the Port of Rotterdam and home to multiple Dutch investments. The appointment is part of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ strategy to deepen engagement with South Asian countries, particularly India.
Bora has held senior roles at multinational companies, including Siemens, Philips and Diageo. He was previously Chief Representative and Trade & Investment Commissioner at the Netherlands Business Support Offices (NBSO) in India, managed by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs.
The Port of Rotterdam spans 12,500 hectares and handles around 28,000 seagoing and 91,000 inland vessels annually. The Port Authority’s core functions include managing the port and industrial complex and ensuring efficient shipping operations. Its goal is to position Rotterdam as a future-ready logistics and industrial hub.
