Flipkart Group, India’s digital commerce company, has announced, doubling its electric vehicle (EV) fleet to over 20,000 units. This expansion marks a critical step towards the company’s goal of achieving a 100% electric last-mile fleet by 2030.

According to the press release, the expanded fleet is now operational across key metro cities and Tier-2+ locations, including Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Lucknow, supporting Flipkart’s commitment to The Climate Group’s global EV100 initiative.

Flipkart has also launched a pilot program for long-haul logistics. In partnership with Golden Aero Logistics, the pilot is testing a retrofitted Kalyani electric truck on the busy Delhi-Jaipur corridor.

The trial is designed to evaluate the operational feasibility of electric trucks in medium-distance freight. And gather insights into vehicle performance, energy efficiency, and turnaround time.

"Our journey toward an all-electric logistics network is rooted in both scale and substance," said Nishant Gupta, Head of Sustainability at Flipkart.

He further added, "From empowering our wishmasters with practical knowledge to collaborating with industry partners on infrastructure and product design, we are focused on removing real barriers to adoption and driving inclusive, long-term change.”

The company’s investment in EVs is already showing results in high-frequency operations. Currently, over 70% of grocery deliveries on the Flipkart platform are fulfilled using electric vehicles, demonstrating the fleet’s reliability and meaningfully reducing the company’s operational carbon footprint.
