The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has revised the budget of ₹3,630.77 crore for a greenfield expressway linking the upcoming Jewar International Airport to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
The project, which spans 31.42 km across Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, is set to be developed under the hybrid annuity mode (HAM). It will revolutionise transit in the NCR with high-speed airport access from South Delhi, Faridabad, Gurugram, and Ballabhgarh.
According to the official press release, the new corridor is designed as a strategic enabler for regional logistics. By intersecting the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, the Yamuna Expressway, and the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC), the project creates a multimodal transport hub.
The development boasts a total length of 31.42 km, with 11 km of this highway being an elevated segment designed to navigate high-density urban areas effectively.
The route is fully aligned with the Faridabad Master Plan 2031, which is crucial for supporting future infrastructure expansion in the region.
Furthermore, the project involves a cost-sharing agreement, wherein the Haryana government has pledged to contribute ₹450 crore towards the additional ₹689.24 crore required for the elevated section.
In a parallel, Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu informed the Rajya Sabha on 9 March that the Noida International Airport at Jewar has officially received its aerodrome license from the DGCA.
The issuance of the license marks the final regulatory hurdle before commercial operations begin. Minister Naidu noted that the transition from licensing to the first flight typically spans 45 to 60 days.
"The first aerodrome license has been given after thorough consultations with the Airport Authority of India. We are now approaching airlines to begin planning their flight schedules," the Minister stated.
