Texmaco Rail secures ₹64 crore order for specialised automotive wagons

Texmaco Rail & Engineering, a player in the Adventz Group, announced on 9 December that it has bagged a purchase order worth ₹64 crore from APL Logistics Vascor Automotive. The contract focuses on the manufacture and supply of specialised freight wagons designed specifically for the automotive sector.

The order comprises the supply of ACT-1 wagon rakes along with BVCM-type brake vans. This deal further says that Texmaco Rail’s footprint in the specialised freight rolling stock market, a segment seeing increased demand as India’s logistics infrastructure modernizes.

According to a company statement, these wagons will be manufactured in strict adherence to the latest technical specifications provided by the Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO), ensuring high safety and quality standards.

The ACT-1 wagons are a new-generation solution tailored for the safe and efficient transport of finished automobiles and related cargo. As the automotive industry seeks faster turnaround times, Texmaco's latest design focuses on several key performance indicators:

Higher payload efficiency is achieved by maximising the volume of vehicles transported per trip. Enhanced cargo safety is ensured through specialised securing mechanisms designed to prevent damage during transit. Furthermore, the design focuses on improved asset utilisation, prioritising durability and reduced maintenance downtime.

"These wagons cater to the evolving requirements of the automotive and logistics sectors, supporting faster turnaround for high-value freight movement," the company stated.

This order highlights the growing shift toward rail-based logistics for the Indian automotive industry, which has traditionally relied heavily on road transport. By utilising specialised rakes like the ACT-1, logistics providers like APL Logistics Vascor can offer more sustainable and cost-effective transport solutions to car manufacturers.
