Gateway Distriparks acquires land parcel in Indore for ICD project
The facility supports international (EXIM) and internal commerce by efficiently connecting primary ports with regional manufacturing centers through a continuous multimodal link.

Gateway Distriparks (GDL) has announced its entry into Central India with the acquisition of 25 acres of land near the Pithampur Industrial Area. The company plans to develop Inland Container Depot (ICD) with an estimated total investment of ₹150 crores.
The project, which has already secured in-principle approval from Indian Railways, marks GDL’s first footprint in Madhya Pradesh. The facility is designed to bolster both Export-Import (EXIM) and domestic trade by providing a seamless multimodal link between regional manufacturing hubs and India’s major ports.
The proposed Inland Container Depot (ICD) is designed with modern infrastructure to guarantee high-volume throughput and efficient logistics management, encompassing a land area of approximately 25 acres and an annual capacity of 120,000 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units).
Its core infrastructure includes two dedicated rail sidings, enabling a range of key services such as rail transportation, container handling, bonded warehousing, and last-mile road distribution.
"While Gateway remains strongly focused on the EXIM market, the Indore ICD will also strengthen our domestic container logistics and rail-based distribution network," said Prem Kishan Dass Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director.
The facility is positioned to serve a massive industrial catchment area, including Indore, Pithampur, Dewas, Dhar, Mhow, Ujjain, and Sanwer. By offering cost-efficient, rail-based distribution, the ICD aims to streamline the supply chain for several core industries.
He noted that the facility will empower local manufacturers to access cost-efficient containerised movement not just to international gateways, but across India’s primary consumption and industrial corridors.
Reflecting the industrial diversity of Madhya Pradesh, the ICD is expected to manage a wide array of commodities. This includes automotive parts and components, healthcare items such as pharmaceuticals and chemicals, and manufactured goods like polymers, textiles, and garments.
Additionally, the facility will handle various regional agricultural products and commodities, supporting the local agri-business sector.
