First milk cargo train from Ahmedabad reaches Jammu and Kashmir
20-wagon dairy rake marks a step in improving cold-chain logistics and steady supplies to remote Kashmir Valley regions

Indian Railways has, for the first time, transported a full milk cargo train to Jammu and Kashmir, marking a step towards improving dairy supplies in the Kashmir Valley.
A train carrying dairy products in 20 wagons arrived from Ahmedabad at Bari Brahmana and Anantnag, according to Northern Railway. The move aims to strengthen the availability of essential commodities in remote areas.
The initiative reflects Indian Railways’ efforts to ensure a steady supply of milk and dairy products to regions that face logistical challenges due to distance and terrain.
Separately, the Ahmedabad Division said it had dispatched its first-ever milk product cargo rake to Jammu and Kashmir. It added that the development would help strengthen cold-chain logistics and support a smooth and reliable supply of dairy products across regions.
