DFCCIL, Monash University partner on rail research
DFCCIL has signed an MoU with Monash University’s Institute of Railway Technology to optimise Wheel–Rail interactions across its freight corridor network.

A major step has been taken toward strengthening freight rail research and engineering innovation with the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited and Monash University Institute of Railway Technology.
The agreement focuses on optimising the Wheel–Rail Interface across DFCCIL's freight corridor network. The MoU was signed by Pawan K. Rai and Ravi Ravitharan in the presence of Praveen Kumar, Anurag Sharma, and other senior officials.
The collaboration combines DFCCIL’s operational expertise with Monash University’s internationally recognised railway research capabilities to better understand Wheel–Rail interactions and develop solutions that extend track life across the Dedicated Freight Corridor network.
The initiative is expected to improve asset reliability and operational safety while reducing maintenance requirements and lifecycle costs. It will also help enhance the overall efficiency and performance of freight rail operations across the network.
