June 15, 2018: Since the turn of the century manufacturing has emerged as one of the high growth sectors in India. Under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, launched by PM Narendra Modi, the government aims to increase the manufacturing sector’s share of GDP to 25 percent by 2022: raised from 16 percent when the initiative was launched.

Optimas Solutions entered the Indian market in 2009, offering a full suite of services to OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers to help improve supply chain efficiency and secure high-quality fasteners and c-class components. It sources and supplies components for leading manufacturers within the off-highway, automotive and powertrain industries.

At the start of 2018, the company moved into larger offices in Pune. The move allows room for a larger team, to make sure that the same level of customer service is delivered as the business grows. Services delivered from the offices include vendor managed inventory (VMI), logistics, quality control and engineering. The office is supported by three warehouses located in Pune, Chennai and Gurugram, which facilitate just-in-time deliver to customers’ manufacturing facilities.

With its warehouse facilities Optimas is able to hold local inventory and ‘safety stock’ of both imported and locally sourced parts. This has allowed one local manufacturer to reduce its stock holding by $75k whilst improving the reliability of its supply chain. Optimas is further able to improve efficiencies for customers by consolidating suppliers for cost savings and administrative advantages.

Rishi Kesh Kaushik, country manager - India, comments, “Customers are looking for an experience service provider who can help to consolidate their supply chain, add value to their logistics and support in quality control. The new sales office adds greater strength to our capabilities in India to make sure we can support all of our customers in their needs.”

Optimas has also invested to create a PPAP centre of excellence operating from the Pune office. The Production Part Approval Process is a standardised process used by the automotive and aerospace industries to help manufacturers and suppliers communicate and approve production designs and processes. The centre of excellence will be used to help Optimas fuel global innovation for all of its customers. Improving turnaround time on new parts and helping to deliver parts that are right first time.
