Maersk reports record uptake for its mobile app in India during Apr-Jun quarter

July 14, 2020: Maersk’s mobile application recorded over 1.8 million actions in April - June quarter, more than double of those recorded in the January to March first quarter. These include any action performed by customers on the app like booking & get instant confirmations, tracking, checking schedules and live support.

July 14, 2020: Maersk’s mobile application recorded over 1.8 million actions in April - June quarter, more than double of those recorded in the January to March first quarter. These include any action performed by customers on the app like booking & get instant confirmations, tracking, checking schedules and live support.

With over 4,000 users, India topped the charts globally amongst the countries where Maersk’s customers are actively using the mobile app.

80% of customers started using Maersk Spot
Bhavik Mota, head of products, Maersk South Asia, said, “During the last few months, we have seen that almost 80 percent of our customers in India, who are transacting on short term contracts have started using the Maersk Spot digital solution. This is a great proof point of our strategy to invest in customer-oriented digital platforms that bring higher reliability for our customers.

He further added, “After the initial launch of Maersk Spot for ocean shipping, we are now also offering the solution for landside logistics and thus offering a true integrated logistics solution to our Indian customers at their fingertips.”

10-fold growth in search
A deeper analysis of the activities shows that ‘Maersk Spot’-related searches grew 10-fold during the second quarter of 2020. Maersk Spot is a digital solution offered for customers transacting on short-term contracts which revolve around guaranteed loading for customers’ cargo and transparent upfront pricing. Customers booking cargo on Maersk Spot also get benefits of hinterland coverage either by road or rail as well as value-added services such as Maersk Value Protect and Customs House Brokerage.

The Maersk.com website is handled almost $20 billion in transactions in 2019. The Maersk app is available in The App Store and in Google Play.
