June 27, 2018: Maersk Line, the global containerised division of the Maersk Group, announced the successful execution of its first reefer as well as dry store door shipments from customer’s door step via Haldia Dock Complex to its destinations in Los Angeles, Alexandria, Newark and Savannah.
The consignments were traditionally shipped from Kolkata port, however with the opportunity of increased draft at port and its fixed weekly sailings, Haldia offered a better prospect for the customer.
Commenting on this achievement, Steve Felder, managing director, Maersk Line (India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives) said, “We are committed to delivering the best integrated logistical solutions tailor-made to suit our customers in every geography. Our first Store Door (SD) Reefer project from Haldia is a significant landmark and the first of many such initiatives to follow. We will continue to work on our E2E service offerings and further simplify trade in this region.”
