TVS Supply Chain wins Daimler deal for in-plant logistics in Chennai
The focus is to align in-plant logistics with manufacturing throughput and reduce disruptions.

TVS Supply Chain Solutions has secured a three-year contract from Daimler India Commercial Vehicles to manage in-plant warehouse operations at the commercial vehicle manufacturer’s facility in Chennai. The mandate covers component handling and internal material movement within the plant, placing the logistics provider at the centre of shopfloor supply operations.
The contract involves the deployment of around 700 TVS Supply Chain Solutions employees to run end-to-end warehouse and in-plant logistics activities at the facility. The scope includes managing material receipt, storage, line feeding, and inventory control to support production schedules.
According to the company, the engagement will rely on technology platforms such as IoT-based tracking to provide real-time visibility of materials within the plant. Automation systems will be used to limit manual handling, while predictive analytics and digital dashboards will be applied to planning and performance monitoring.
The focus of the arrangement is to align in-plant logistics with manufacturing throughput and reduce disruptions caused by material availability or handling gaps. The integration of digital tools is intended to link warehouse operations more closely with production planning and execution.
Sukumar K, CEO of India and MEA, TVS Supply Chain Solutions, said, "We are pleased to extend our long-standing partnership with Daimler through this significant engagement. Our global experience with Daimler, combined with our expertise in in-plant logistics, automation-led operations, and real-time visibility solutions, positions us well to drive measurable efficiencies. We look forward to further strengthening their production ecosystem and supporting their commitment to world-class manufacturing."
Mr C. Muthu Maruthachalam, President and Chief Operating Officer, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, said, "Efficient in-plant logistics is vital to our production success. Partnering with TVS Supply Chain Solutions allows us to leverage their proven expertise and technology-driven approach to enhance our operational performance.”
TVS Supply Chain Solutions operates across 25 countries and manages supply chains for customers in sectors including automotive, industrial, consumer, technology, rail, utilities, and healthcare. The company said the Daimler India contract adds to its portfolio of automotive in-plant logistics programmes in India and overseas.
