A delegation from the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) visited the NX Group Building in Japan on 17 December to discuss a strategic partnership with NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS aimed at building logistics and warehouse infrastructure for India’s semiconductor industry and establishing a world-class logistics hub in the Dholera area of Gujarat.
Nippon Express said the discussions focused on collaboration between the NX Group and ISM in support of the country’s growing semiconductor sector. The meeting included talks on plans for warehouse facilities in Dholera, progress on railway development, potential government support and land use by the NX Group, with both sides agreeing to strengthen cooperation to enhance logistics infrastructure for industry growth.
The ISM, which works under India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, leads the development of infrastructure for the semiconductor and display industries. It is part of India’s efforts to become a global leader in electronics manufacturing and design and is carrying out the “Programme for Development of Semiconductor and Display Ecosystem in India,” also known as the Semicon India Programme. The Indian government’s “ISM 2.0” strategy has extended support to advanced packaging, equipment, chemical, gas and material sectors, and anticipates participation from Japanese companies.
The Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), located along the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, is planned as a new industrial city that hosts a cluster of semiconductor and electronics-related companies. The region is developing railway, road, port and other infrastructure.
Nippon Express described India as one of its most important markets as it pursues its long-term vision of becoming “a logistics company with a strong presence in the global market.” The company aims to grow its Indian revenues to ¥60 billion (about $400 million) by 2028, roughly three times its 2023 level. The NX Group currently has 103 business locations and 60 warehouses across 39 Indian cities.
Representatives from both sides took part in the discussions, including ISM CEO Amitesh Kumar Sinha, NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS Executive Officer Yasuhiro Okanishi and NX Group India Representative Teruaki Nagoya.
The NX Group said it will continue to expand its global network and provide high-quality logistics services worldwide.
